Le créateur du premier Donkey Kong pensait que « donkey » signifiait « têtu » en anglais et nomma ainsi sa création « singe têtu » ou Donkey Kong. Ce n’est que plus tard qu’il apprit que « donkey » signifiait « âne ». Le nom est toutefois resté et est à présent une référence dans le monde du jeu vidéo.
