The Espressif ESP-WROOM-32U is a powerful and compact module that combines Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (BT), and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to support a wide range of applications. The module boasts a U.FL (IPEX) connector making the module perfect for space-constrained applications. By integrating the ESP32-D0WD chip, the device offers a dual-core CPU with an adjustable clock frequency (80 MHz to 240 MHz) and can be individually controlled and powered. The CPU may also be powered off to make use of the low power co-processor to continuously monitor the peripherals for a change of state. Some of the powerful peripherals integrated within the ESP32-D0WD include: Capacitive touch sensors Hall sensors SD card interface Ethernet High speed SPI UART I²S I²C Low-noise sense amplifiers The WROOM-32U operates on freeRTOS with LwIP; TLS 1.2 with hardware acceleration built-in. The module includes secure encrypted over-the-air (OTA) updates, allowing developers to continually upgrade their products after release with low cost and effort. The system is completely open-source with a large collection of example code and information on GitHub.
